Skill Committee meeting: DC Shopian for integrated & coordinated approach on skilling/ up-skilling of youth

Many demand driven & market oriented courses to be started during this year


SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 24: A meeting of the District Skill Committee was conducted today at Shopian to deliberate and finalise the District Skill development Plan.


Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar chaired the meeting and took a comprehensive review on the Action Plan for upcoming Skill training of marginalised sections of the society including women and STs.


The committee on the occasion approved the self-employed Tailor course for 25 women/ STs at Check-i-Chotipora, Shopian.


The DC apprised the members about their role for effective implementation of skill development schemes and directed for continuous monitoring of Training centres involved in skill development under various sectors viz ITIs, Polytechnic, RSETI, Daksh Kisan, PM Vishwakarma, Handicrafts and Handloom, etc.


He stressed upon departments to ensure integrated & coordinated approach for the skilling/ up skilling of targeted population.


He took appraisal of last year’s performance of training also, and instructed for introduction of new age courses based on the market demand in order to meet the requirements of job market, financial institutions and entrepreneurship.


The DC asked for strengthening the industry linkage and credit linkage from financial institutions for the certified trainees.


The meeting was attended by Officers of Industries, Principal ITI, Polytechnic and heads of Handloom, Handicrafts and others.
