SKUAST-K, KVK Budgam conclude E-MDP
BUDGAM, NOVEMBER 07: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam today concluded one week Existing MDP on “Entrepreneurship development through mushroom production technology and its processing” sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small & Micro-Enterprises, Govt of India.
The programme was organized for the rural youth/farm women of village Chayer, Magam District Budgam and was aimed at educating the rural youth/farm women of Magam about the potential career paths in mushroom production and its processing.
Dr. Bilal A. Lone, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Budgam, in his address informed the trainees about different schemes available under HADP for Mushroom Production that can augur development of Mushroom based Micro and Small Enterprises in the region.
He also highlighted the need of youth empowerment and role of skill development besides providing an overview of MSME programmes.
During the course of the training, a total of 25 trainees participated in the said training.
The Scientists of KVK Budgam, resource person from Division of Plant Pathology SKUAST-K and Department of Agriculture delivered the lectures on different aspects of Mushroom production technology.
Course coordinator Dr Vaseem Yousuf conducted the demonstration on spawning and casing of Button mushroom and production technology of Dingri Mushroom.
Dr. Bhinish Shakeel, Scientist, Home Science, briefed the trainees about processing and value addition of mushrooms. Moreover, Dr Ambreen Nabi, Scientist KVK Budgam delivered a lecture on the health benefits and nutritional value of mushrooms. Dr Fayaz Ahmed Ellahi, Mushroom Development Officer Budgam delivered detailed lectures on the various schemes available with the department of Agriculture particularly on mushroom production.
At the end, an interactive session was held and the participants were highly satisfied and desired that more such diverse programmes should be conducted for this village in future also.
