SKUAST-K, KVK Budgam organize Backyard Poultry Training cum Chick Distribution programme
BUDGAM, September 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Budgam, SKUAST-Kashmir organised Backyard Poultry Training cum Chick distribution at Village Gariend of Budgam district under Front Line Demonstration (FLD) programme.
During the programme, 250 VanRaja poultry birds were distributed free of cost among 40 farmers of Gariend area of district Budgam.
Prof. Dil Mohd. Makdhoomi (Director Extension, SKUAST-K) was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme was attended by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone (Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Budgam), Dr Mir Nadeem Hassan (Animal Scientist KVK Budgam) besides the scientific staff of the Kendra.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Makhdoomi stressed upon the need of backyard poultry farming for improving the food and nutritional security of the rural areas.
Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone deliberated upon different interventions being carried out by KVK Budgam in the area under zero technology gap adapted village.
During the programme, Dr. Mir Nadeem Hassan, Scientist Animal Science KVK Budgam discussed in detail about the importance of backyard poultry farming, its role in increasing the livelihood of people living in rural areas and advantages of new elite poultry birds over indigenous birds for backyard poultry rearing.
