Slow traffic on Jammu-Srinagar highway due to road conditions and nomadic flocks; caution advised
Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) is currently experiencing slow movement, particularly between Ramban and Banihal. The reduced speed is attributed to poor road surface conditions, challenging 90-degree curves near the T5 tunnel, and the movement of nomadic flocks along this stretch.
Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution and follow lane discipline strictly. Any attempts to overtake could lead to significant congestion, further exacerbating the slow traffic flow.
Despite the delays on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW, other critical routes are open for vehicular movement. The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road, Mughal road, and Bhaderwah-Chamba road are clear and operational. Additionally, National Highway 244 is open for traffic, providing alternate routes for travelers.
