Slow traffic on Jammu-Srinagar highway: Road conditions, nomadic flocks cause delays; advisory issued

Commuters on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) are experiencing slow movement this morning, particularly between Ramban and Banihal. The slow pace is attributed to the poor surface condition of the road, the sharp 90-degree curves near tunnel T5, and the movement of nomadic flocks. Authorities have urged travelers to adhere to lane discipline and avoid overtaking to prevent further congestion.

Light motor vehicles (passenger) are plying from both sides on the highway. Despite the challenges, vehicles are managing to move through, albeit slowly. Commuters are advised to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic police to ensure a smoother journey.

Earlier this morning, it was reported that repair and maintenance work was underway at Dalwas on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Travelers were advised to maintain patience and seek updates from the Traffic Control Unit (TCU) in Ramban for the latest information.

Meanwhile, alternate routes including the SSG road, Mughal Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba road, and NH-244 remain open and are facilitating vehicular movement. Travelers can choose these options depending on their destination and road conditions.
