Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) recently marked the launch of its first Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUG) batch of students enrolled in the innovative 'Design Your Degree' (DYD) program with an interactive session led by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar. This groundbreaking program allows students, all from science background in their Class 12 to explore a wide range of subjects to identify their ideal specialization of choice.

The DYD program is distinguished by its unique pedagogy, which combines experiential learning with project-based evaluation, and involves faculty members from ten different disciplines of the University having both Engineering and non-Engineering courses. Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean Academic Affairs encouraged the newly admitted students to visit the various labs and facilities available in the University to develop special skills and explore the possibility for implementing them in participating in projects which can be useful in solving immediate problems prevailing in the society. During the session, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the program’s objective to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for holistic development.

The program aims to make students self-sufficient, encouraging them to explore entrepreneurial ventures and startups rather than relying on traditional employment

paths. The Vice Chancellor also congratulated Dr. Sharada Potukuchi, the Nodal Officer of the DYD program, and her Faculty Team for their dedication to this innovative

educational approach, inspiring students to contribute to the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' and contributing truly for the objectives of NEP-2020.
