Social Welfare Department organises awareness Camp on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan for Tribal Empowerment
POONCH, MAY 30: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women Mission Shakti Poonch, in collaboration with the OSC Poonch and ICPS Department, conducted an awareness camp on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan for Tribal Empowerment” here in High School Bagyal Darra.
The camp was conducted under the guidance of the District Social Welfare Officer, Mohinder Paul.
The Social welfare Officer, Mohinder Paul said that the Government of India Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has announced an initiative “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan for Tribal Empowerment” scheduled to be held from 23rd May to 30th June.
Under the initiative, a range of interactive and educational activities have been planned as part of a month-long Programme which aims to empower the tribal population living in border areas by creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among tribal communities.
The awareness camp was held as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations and was aimed to educate the students about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan launched on 15th August 2020. The campaign aims to tackle the issue of substance abuse and create a drug-free India.
During the awareness programme, the speakers highlighted the causes, consequences, and treatment options for substance abuse. They also emphasized the role of rehabilitation centers in providing various therapeutic interventions for those struggling with addiction.
The initiative also aimed to create awareness about the Nasha Mukt Bharat toll-free helpline number 14446 among students. The staff of the District Hub for Empowermentof Women Mission Shakti Poonch distributed pamphlets to the children, providing them with information about the helpline number and how to access it.
Speaking about the initiative, the District Social Welfare Officer, Mohinder Paul, said, “The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is an important campaign that aims to address the issue of substance abuse and create a drug-free India. It is our responsibility to educate the youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and provide them with access to the necessary resources to combat this issue.”
The awareness camp received a positive response from the students, who appreciated the efforts made by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women Mission Shakti Poonch, OSC Poonch, and ICPS Department in creating awareness about the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan.
The Nasha Mukat Abhiyan is a significant step towards empowering tribal communities and promoting their overall well-being and the initiative of the government to provide tribal communities with the necessary tools and resources to lead a healthy and productive life.
During the Nasha Mukat Abhiyan, the Social Welfare Department created awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse among tribal communities.
The Department has also urged tribal communities to actively participate in the initiative.
