Social Welfare Department organises “Sugamya Yatra 2025” at Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 07: The Department of Social Welfare, Kishtwar, in collaboration with the NGO Bunastan Human Relief Foundation, organized “Sugamya Yatra 2025”, a special initiative aimed at creating awareness regarding accessibility challenges faced by persons with disabilities (Divyangjans). The program also focused on sensitizing stakeholders about their responsibilities under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

As part of the initiative, a special yatra (awareness journey) was conducted to highlight the importance of accessibility rights. During the event, specially-abled participants visited the offices of the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) and the Chief Education Officer (CEO), where they interacted with Phulail Singh Bandral (ACD) and Masood Ahmed Qazi (Deputy CEO) to discuss accessibility-related concerns.
The program also served as a platform to inform Divyangjans about various government welfare schemes, including disability pensions, scholarship programs, and the provision of assistive devices.
The event was attended by District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed Lone; Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Rajesh Kumar, officials from the DSWO and TSWO offices, and Director, Bunastan Human Relief Foundation, Shahid Hussain Want.
Meanwhile, similar awareness programs were conducted in Subdivision Chatroo, led by TSWO Shahnawaz Ahmed and in Subdivision Paddar led by TSWO Chetna Devi.
