Solanki hits out at centre, UT for rise in terror attacks

Congress to launch district wise protests from tomorrow against terrorism, for seeking restoration of statehood – JKPCC President

JAMMU, JULY 17: Expressing grave concern over the  increased terror attacks leading to martyrdom of several army & security force personnel, Senior  AICC leader and  Incharge JK affairs Shri Bharat Sinh Solanki today hit out at the centre government and UT administration  for total failure to check the rising terror activities in Jammu region.

Addressing a press conference at Press Club today, AICC Leader questioned  how there is such a sudden spurt in terror attacks & activities  in most parts of Jammu region after peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha polls and why government has failed to check it after ten years in power now, when centre is directly dealing with the situation.

Accompanied by JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani, AICC secretary Manoj Yadav, Working President Raman Bhalla and JKPCC Senior Vice President incharge Media Ravinder Sharma, Shri Solanki said  that entire nation is shocked over the sacrifices of our young officers & soldiers in the series of terror attacks in Jammu & Kashmir, especially in Jammu region, which has seen a sudden spurt in the terror activities in recent months, although it was hotting up during past couple of years.

It a matter of great concern for all  in the nation that  how  terrorism has revived to this extent in Jammu region , which was almost peaceful in the past two decades, barring few incidents in between. Centre is directly dealing after 2018 especially when UT was formed.

-He said Congress party salutes our brave martyrs and express our deep sympathies to the families of martyrs . It is very painful for all in the nation when it’s learnt from media that the martyrs have left behind their aged & ailing parents, unmarried sisters or newly married young partners &  minor children.

Solanki said the security situation had started worsening in Jammu region for the past around two years with number of major  attacks in Poonch-  Rajouri including the killings of seven minority hindus in Dhangri area of Rajouri district on 1st January,2023.

Stating that over 48 jawans attained martyrdom in the recent years &  referred to series of attacks & said now the entire Jammu province has marked the presence of terrorists and witnessed terror attacks leading to number of casualties of our jawans of army, police and securit forces and civilians too.

This indicates the current security situation in Jammu region which very worrisome. In Kashmir Valley too,  several incidents of selective & targeted killings including those of kashmiri pandits, other minorities and non local workers including local people, from time to time, happened in the past of couple of year.

we laud our army and security forces  & local police who are bravely fighting terrorism at the cost their lives but it for the government to answer for the revival of militancy and take urgent steps to bring the situation under control and to ensure incident free, ongoing Amarnath Yatra & comming  assembly elections.

Solanki also hit out strongly the centre  over the snatching of rights of elected government and vesting in LG when people were agitated over the unilateral & arbitrary snatching away of statehood & other rights of people, depriving them of their status, dignity, and  then  depriving them of the democratic right to  have elected government for around six years . These have proved counter productive in many ways and there is anger amongst people.

Solanki said the people of J&K feel that BJP government at the centre doesn’t want to transfer power to them people, even if elections are held as per SC orders and neither it wants to restore statehood as promised on the floor of parliament as well before the Supreme Court.

This has added to the already existing resentment & anger amongst people over various other issues like large scale unemployment, joblessness in private sector too, issues of youth, daily wagers, temporary employees & others like power tax, water tan and so on, which is not good in this border region, where we have a hostile neighbor.

JKPCC president Vikar Rasool wani blamed the BJP led centre government  & UT adm for total failure to control terrorism which has taken serious dimensions and  jawans getting martyred.

He  said that there is an atmosphere of fear amongst people due to rise in terrorism in Jammu region.

He highlighted the strong resentment of people over the snatching of powers of the elected government and vesting in the Lt Governor before elections as they realised the mood of people against the BJP in elections. He said that the Prime Minister and Home Minister made commitment to restore statehood but further weakened the institution of CM and council of ministers.

Vikar announced to launch protests from tomorrow against rising and to seek restoration of statehood before assembly elections. It will be held at all districts and block levels in phased manner.
