Special Summary Revision camps held across Kishtwar to register new voters
KISHTWAR, April 09: Election Returning Officers (EROs) Inderjeet Singh Parihar (49-Kishtwar), Varunjeet Singh Charak (50-Inderwal), and Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma (48-Paddar Nagseni), along with Assistant Election Returning Officers (AEROs) of three Assembly constituencies of Kishtwar district, inspected Special Summary Revision camps being held at all polling stations in the district.
The camps were organised for the registration of new voters and necessary modifications and identification of Persons with Disabilities in the electoral rolls.
Special camps were organised in all three constituencies; 48-Inderwal, 49-Kishtwar and 50-Paddar-Nagseni, at 388 polling stations in Kishtwar district. Eligible youths showed enthusiastic participation to register themselves as new voters. Booth Level Officers and Supervisors were present on duty at their respective village or polling station from 10am to 5pm with electoral rolls and requisite forms.
All EROs and AEROs, as well as Deputy Chief Electoral Officer (Nodal Officer for SVEEP) Akhter Hussain Qazi, visited various polling booths to oversee the Summary Revision process.
During the visit, officers dispensed requisite forms to new voters and encouraged them to register themselves and their peers who have attained eligible age as of April 1st.
The Booth Level Officers were instructed to work with utmost dedication and caution in registering new voters, correcting and deleting any errors and identifying and marking Persons with Disabilities in the electoral register to avoid inconvenience in the future.
Similar camps will be organised on April 15th, 2023, across the district. District Election Officer Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav has appealed to the public, particularly eligible youth, to avail themselves of this opportunity to enrol as voters. He encouraged youth to come forward in large numbers to register as voters and exercise their right to vote.
Booth Level Officers have also been instructed to attend Special Gram Sabha meetings on April 10th, 2023, in each panchayat and ensure registration and conduct awareness activities under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program regarding registration of names in the electoral roll.
