Spirited events mark celebration of National Voters’ Day across Jammu Division

JAMMU, JANUARY 25: National Voters’ Day stirred up a festive fervour in Jammu Division today as spirited events were held across all the districts amid participation of people from all walks of life.

  The Day, observed annually on January 25th, aligns with the founding day of the Election Commission of India, established on this date in 1950. 

AT KATHUA: The District Administration Kathua today organized a grand event at the Auditorium Hall of Government Degree College for Women to commemorate the 14th National Voters’’ Day.

  Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Minhas who is also the District Election Officer (DEO), presided over the function.

The DEO emphasized the significance of exercising one’s right to vote and urged the citizens to actively participate in the electoral process. He highlighted the importance of National Voters’’ Day in encouraging eligible Voters’ to register and exercise their right to vote without any bias.

Earlier, the DEO also participated in the signature campaign which highlights the importance of responsible voting. The signature campaign was organised to encourage people to make their voices heard by empowering them with the knowledge to become informed Voters’.

AT DODA: The District Election Office orchestrated a spirited celebration of the 14th National Voters’’ Day (NVD) IN the Community Hall in Doda. The event was dedicated to fostering a sense of responsibility and dedication among Voters’.

Commencing the celebration was a solemn pledge ceremony, led by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh. District officers, officials, and students alike joined in, expressing their commitment to enthusiastic participation in upcoming elections, reinforcing the theme of NVD 2024 – ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote For Sure.’

Meanwhile, National Voters’ day was also celebrated with enthusiasm at the institute of Industrial Training (ITI) Bhadarwah in which students from ITI  and local youth participated .  

 ADC Dilmir Chowdhary spoke about the importance of the day and made the youth aware about their right to vote and informed them that eligible Voters’ would be enrolled on time.

 AT RAJOURI: The District Administration Rajouri organised a mega event to encourage and enlighten eligible youth about the significance of participating in the electoral process. Themed ‘Nothing like voting, I vote for sure,’ the celebration aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and civic duty among the residents.

The day commenced with a spirited awareness rally flagged off by the District Election Officer, Om Prakash Bhagat featuring an active participation of students. The rally traversed from the DC Office Complex, culminating at the PWD Dakbunglow in Rajouri, where the main event was presided over by the District Election Officer.

 AT SAMBAThe District Administration Samba organised a vibrant event at Veer Bhoomi Park to mark  the observance of 14th National Voters’’ Day. The event themed “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure,” was celebrated befittingly.

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, who is also the District Election Officer (DEO), Samba, led the event, stating, “This celebration is about ensuring and motivating citizens for voting so that no voter is left behind.”Jingles and messages from the Election Commission of India echoed, spreading awareness among students and the masses.

The newly registered young Voters’ were felicitated by handing over the Epic Card.DEO Samba also felicitated the Best Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and DLMTs, expressing gratitude to the officials for their dedicated services.

AT RAMBAN: District Election Officer, Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary presided over a mega event organized by the Election Department to celebrate 14th National Voters’ Day at Ramban.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Mohita Sharma flagged off a mammoth Voters’ awareness rally comprising citizens, officers, students and other stakeholders commenced from Maitra Chowk and culminated in the premises of the District Administrative Complex, Ramban.

ADDC Ramban, Rajinder Sharma administered the Voters’ pledge to the participants reposing unflinching faith in Indian democracy on the occasion of 14th National Voters’ Day.    

Meanwhile, students from various schools presented colorful cultural programmes including song , skits and dance based on various themes, besides participating in a debate competition on the theme ‘Nothing like voting, I vote for sure’ to mark 14th National Voters’ Day.

 AT REASITo commemorate the 14th National Voters’ Day, a vibrant program unfolded at the DC office, Reasi, led by District Election Officer Vishesh  Mahajan. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from district-level officers, officials, students, teachers including those from esteemed educational institutions like Govt. Degree College and ITI Reasi.

 A spirited rally, carrying banners dedicated to the 14th National Voters’ Day, traversed through the  main bazaars / Market of  Reasi.

 Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan flagged off the rally from the DC office. The rally aimed to disseminate the crucial message of voter registration and active participation in the democratic process.

AT KISHTWARThe Auditorium at GDC Kishtwar came alive with patriotic fervor as the District Administration orchestrated a remarkable event dedicated to Voters’, themed ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote For Sure.’ This theme marked the celebration of the 14th National Voters’ Day.

Led by the District Election Officer, Dr. Devansh Yadav, the impressive program was a collaborative effort with GDC Kishtwar .

A diverse audience comprising students, staff from educational institutions, Election Cell, and GDC, including Govt Polytechnic College Kishtwar, participated in this enlightening event.

The Chief Guest, DEO Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav, and Guest of Honour, Principal GDC Kishtwar Dr. Jyoti Parihar, graced the occasion.

The ceremonial proceedings commenced with the lighting of the lamp and the singing of the National Anthem.

A special arrangement featured the playing of the patriotic song “Main Bharat Hoon” during the event. ACD Kishtwar, Manoj Kumar, administered the Voters’ Day Pledge, urging participants to uphold the dignity of elections and vote without fear or influence.

AT UDHAMPUR: An impressive function  was organized by District Administration Udhampur in the Premises of the DC Office Complex to celebrate  14th National Voters’ Day on the theme ”Nothing like voting, I vote for sure”.

 District Election Officer, Saloni Rai was the chief guest while Senior Superintendent of Police, Joginder Singh was the guest of honour and Deputy District Election Officer; Gurdev Kumar presided over the programme on the occasion.

The District Election Officer also handed over EPIC cards among a number of electors registered in the electoral rolls for the first time. The District Election Officer also administered a pledge to all the participants to uphold the dignity of elections and vote in the elections without any fear, inducement or influence.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that the main objective of celebrating this day was to strengthen our democratic system by creating awareness among the young and future Voters’ about the importance of their vote and hence involving their greater participation in the whole electoral system.  

 AT POONCH: The District Administration Poonch today organized a grand event at High School Ajote  to commemorate the 14th National Voters’ Day.

Deputy Commissioner,  Yasin M. Choudhary  who is also the District Election Officer (DEO), presided over the function. He explained that the theme reflects the essence of voting in a democracy and showcases an individual’s commitment and aspiration towards participating in the electoral process through the power of their vote.

On the occasion, an awareness rally was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner from the DC Office complex which culminated at High School Ajote.

Students from various schools were carrying placards with slogans like “Voting is the Weapon of Non Violence, Nothing like voting – I vote for sure, My vote is my Power”

During the event, a pledge was administered to all participants, including district officers, staff, and students, emphasizing their commitment to the democratic process and the exercise of their right to vote at Govt; High School Ajote.
