SPMR College organizes brainstorming session on ‘Mindfulness Therapy’
JAMMU, DECEMBER 28: Manodarpan Psychological and Career Counselling Cell of Government SPMR College of Commerce Jammu today organised a session on ‘Mindfulness Therapy’.
The College Principal Dr. Surinder Kumar, the chief guest of the occasion, shared his experience and put forth that many of us, teachers and students, are struggling to manage personal as well as professional demands. So this interactive session will help all of us to nourish our wellbeing and provide us with strategies and approaches to cope up with stress effectively.
Prof. Ashu Manhas, Convener Manodarpan Career Counselling Cell of the College, formally welcomed the gathering and encouraged the students to take maximum benefit from the session. Ms Ambica, Clinical Psychologist- Wellbeing Counselling Centre was the resource person of the session. She motivated the students to be mentally healthy as good mental health is a key to countless positive benefits to human life. She introduced various types of therapies to reduce anxiety, stress or depression among the students.
In this interactive session, Ms Ambica delved deep into the concept of Mindfulness to deal with stress and the issues related thereof. She discussed therapies such as deep breathing, thought observation, body scan, etc. Prominent among those present were Prof. Pawan Kumar Gupta, HOD Commerce, Dr. Chetna, Prof Binny and Dr. Iesha. About 54 students attended the programme. The whole event was organised and managed by Prof. Ashu Manhas, Convener, Manodarpan Psychological and Career Counselling Cell. The proceeding of the event was conducted by Dr. Fayza and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jagmeet Kaur.
