Sports activities, counselling sessions mark Day 1 of ‘Festival of Youth’ in Kathua
KATHUA, March 27: The Sports Stadium in Kathua witnessed a wave of enthusiastic participation from youth, as the “Festival of Youth” commenced its activities today. The event was inaugurated by the Additional District Development Commissioner, Ankur Mahajan who also addressed the youth, encouraging them to make the most of the various opportunities presented to them.
While addressing the gathering of youth, the ADDC Kathua said the ‘Festival of Youth’ brought together the youth from various parts of Kathua, to partake in multifarious activities that aimed to promote their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Some of the major highlights of the event included sports activities, a plantation drive, and counselling sessions on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan
A Nukkad Natak was also presented on the occasion which was aimed at educating the Youth about the perils of drug abuse (Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan) and the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.
The sports activities were highly engaging, with various games and competitions being held, which saw participation from a large number of youngsters.
The resource persons from District Industries Centre, Lead Bank, KVIB, Health and other departments explained at length about the programmes and initiatives offering self-employment opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
Assistant Director Employment, Naresh Gupta also threw light on the umbrella of schemes offered under Mission Youth under which the unemployed youth can avail opportunities under Mumkin,Tejaswini etc where ample subsidy is also provisioned by which youth can start new ventures to become self-reliant and job providers for others.
Later, the plantation drive was carried out in the premises of District Employment & Counselling Centre. Besides, there were also awareness sessions regarding skill development opportunities and self-employment opportunities for the youth.
The event also included scintillating cultural performance by youngsters from Nehru Yuva Kendra which was appreciated by the audience. Pertinently, the programme was part of Mission Youth J&K initiative aimed at revitalisation of Youth Clubs.
