Sports play key role in overall growth, career advancement: Slathia
SAMBA: Former minister and Pradesh BJP Vice President Surjeet Singh Slathia today said exhorted youth to participate in sports in a big way, saying this does not only help in achieving physical fitness but also opens up vistas of opportunities in career advancement.
Speaking at prize giving ceremony of the finals of District Volleyball Tournament at Mandi Sangwali in Samba, Slathia said in the present day competitive world, the skills and values gained from sports are incredible.
“Let each one of us play our role in promoting sports and help young people in shaping successful, healthy and well rounded life for themselves “, he said while congratulating the winners and runners up teams.
In the finals, Barjani Volleyball Club emerged as winners and Balori Volleyball Club as Runners Up.
Slathia complimented both the sides and the other participating teams for putting in their best in excelling in the game. He described win and loss as part of the game, saying the fundamentals of the competition is to aim high for pursuing the goals. He hoped that the excellent performance of the players will inspire the youngsters to take to sports and have the best of it as per their aptitude for the games they like the most.
Slathia said sports play a crucial role in mental health management, help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Moreover, sports encourage a positive attitude, resilience, and mental fortitude, which are vital in navigating life’s challenges, he said, adding this forges camaraderie and infuses discipline among the sports persons. Healthy body possesses a healthy mind, he said.
While Slathia was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony, Mohan Lal Sharma, Vijay Singh Ex BDC chairman, Jogeshwar Singh Jamwal Organiser- Sangwali Volleyball Club, Rajeshwar Singh Naresh Singh, Tiku Singh, Bantu Singh, Rickey Sambyal, Joney Sambyal and Vinu Sambyal were among the prominent present on the occasion.
A large number of sports lovers from the adjoining areas witnessed the finals and applauded every move of the players enthusiastically.
