Srinagar admin organizes Drug De-Addiction/ Awareness programme at Girls High School Balhama

SRINAGAR, APRIL 07: Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, an IEC (Information, Education and Communication) programme on Drug De-Addiction and Awareness was organized today at Girls High School, Balhama.

The programme, aimed to sensitize students and the local community about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free society, witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of school children, staff members and local residents.

The event was part of an ongoing initiative to educate the youth and the general public about the growing menace of drug addiction and the collective responsibility to fight it.

During the event, Block Development Officer Khonmoh addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for awareness and early intervention to curb the spread of drug abuse, especially among youth. He called upon students to act as ambassadors of change and spread the message of healthy and responsible living.

Tehsil Social Welfare Officer North also delivered a detailed lecture, highlighting the psychological, social and economic consequences of drug addiction. He spoke about various government schemes and rehabilitation facilities available for those in need.

Other Officers and Experts present also shared their insights and encouraged the audience to stand united against this social evil. The programme concluded with an interactive session where students raised queries and shared their thoughts on how to contribute to a drug-free society.

On the occasion, speakers underlined that such awareness initiatives play a vital role in community mobilization and strengthening the fight against drug abuse at the grassroots level.
