Statue of Kargil hero Capt Haneef Uddin unveiled at his school in Kerala
New Delhi [India], July 26 (ANI): A statue of Capt Haneef Uddin, Vir Chakra awardee, a gallant officer of the Rajputana Rifles, was unveiled at a school in Kerala, his alma mater, in a solemn ceremony on Friday. The event was attended by Lt Gen ADS Aujla, Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles, and other dignitaries.
Capt Haneefuddin, a braveheart from 11 Rajputana Rifles, laid down his life fighting valiantly against the enemy in the Turtuk area of Kargil, Ladakh, during the Kargil war with Pakistan. His unwavering courage and sacrifice earned him the prestigious Veer Chakra award posthumously.
The statue, a fitting tribute to the Kargil hero, was dedicated by Lt Gen ADS Aujla, who praised Capt Haneef Uddin’s bravery and selflessness. The event aimed to inspire the younger generation to emulate the values of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism embodied by Capt Haneef Uddin.
The event was organised by the ex-students of the school, who also instituted four scholarships of Rs 15,000 each in the name of Capt Haneef Uddin. The unveiling ceremony included a wreath-laying ceremony, distribution of scholarships for this year and an inspiring speech by Lt Gen Aujla. The event was attended by school students, teachers, and alumni who paid their respects to the fallen hero.
