“Stop talking like a dynast…”: BJP’s Pratyush Kanth flays Rahul Gandhi over Mizoram remarks
Aizawl (Mizoram) [India], October 18 (ANI): BJP leader Pratyush Kanth mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks during his recent visit to poll-bound Mizoram, saying he doesn’t take him seriously as he can say anything that comes to his mind.
Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Kanth said, “Rahul Gandhi can say anything. I don’t take him seriously as he often says things without thinking through. To understand the Northeast, he needs to spend more time in the region and read about it.”
“You (Rahul Gandhi) can’t come here and say, ‘I came here as a baby with my father’. Stop speaking like a dynast, your dynasty has ended. The arrogance that he demonstrated while interacting with the people of Mizoram was shocking,” the BJP leader added.
“It was appalling the way he spoke. It was as if a ‘Raja’ (king) had come to meet his ‘Praja’ (peasants),” said Kanth, adding, “The people of Mizoram want education, employment and a roadmap for development but all that Rahul Gandhi did was share his childhood memories of the state.”
Taking a further dig at the Congress, Kanth said, “I see the Congress struggling here. I have talked to a lot of people, I have spent a lot of time here. So, trust me, they are nowhere here.”
“Rahul Gandhi has to understand that your politics of hatred can only take you to so far. Beyond that, it is all about development. He has to understand the culture, tradition, and the language of the state. He has to understand what the people here want,” he added.
On his arrival in Mizoram on Monday, Rahul Gandhi took out a Padyatra (foot march) from Chanmari (Aizawl) to the Raj Bhawan.
The Congress, on Monday, also released a list of 39 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.
In a 40-member Mizoram assembly, Mizo National Front bagged 26 seats with a vote share of 37.8 per cent to emerge victorious in the 2018 polls. Congress bagged just five seats and BJP had to be content with a solitary seat.
