Students of Floriculture & Landscaping Trade of (ITI) attend short-term training program at Leh

LEH, March 19: Students Floriculture & Landscaping trade of (ITI) Leh, are attending a short-term training program at the Institute of Himalayan BioResource Technology IHBT (CSIR) in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh from 15^th – 25^th March 2024.

Thirteen students and a Faculty are currently at IHBT Palampur for the ten-day programme for hands-on training and mentorship by Faculty and experts at IHBT CSIR. The training program is designed to cover a wide array of topics, like – cultivation techniques, plant propagation, pest management, and post-harvest handling and includes interactive sessions, field visits, and hands-on practical exercises.

The training is part of the ‘Skill Immersion Programme’ of LSDM whereby students of Industrial Training Institutes are being attached for two to six weeks with renowned national institutes for Hands-on training, Industry exposure, Mentorship and technology integration.

The initiative was introduced in 2023 by the Ladakh Skill Development Mission whereby 14. Students of the ‘Motor Mechanic Vehicle’ trade from ITI Leh and Kargil were deputed to Central Farm Machinery Training & Testing Institute (CFMTTI) Budhni in Madhya Pradesh for 40 days of training in October 2023. This was followed by 18 days training of students of the ‘Electrician’ trade to CFMTTI, Budhni in October 2023.

LSDM is collaborating with other national institutes to extend ‘Skill Immersion Programme’ to students of the Industrial Training Institutes.
