Sunderbani: Forest Deptt organises awareness activities involving students
RAJOURI, May 16: A Pledge taking ceremony and cleanliness drive was held today in Govt. Higher Secondary School Channi in Sunderbani Forest Range.
Bal Krishan, BDC Chairman Siot, was the chief guest and Vinod Behnal Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani, Kapil Kant, Tehsildar Sunderbani, Inder Jeet BDO Siot/Sunderbani, Deep Sharma, Principal GHSS, Prat, Darshan Lal, Sarpanch Prat were the guests of honour.
Dr. Rakesh Verma, Range officer Sunderbani, welcome the guests and gave detailed information about aims objectives and activities undertaken during under Mission Life to combat challenges of climate change. He further explained that Mission Life is an India led Global mass movement to nudge individual and community action to protect and preserve the environment. The word Life means ‘Lifestyle for Environment’, he said and added that ‘there is a need for all of us to come together and take Lifestyle for Environment forward as a campaign. This can become a mass movement towards an environmentally conscious lifestyle.’
Vinod Baniyal, ADC said that individual action is the core of Climate responsibility. “The average carbon footprint of a person in India is 0.56 tons per year compared to the global average of 4 tons. India’s traditional knowledge of social norms and daily household practices strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change through individual behaviours, in the form of a movement (Jan Andolan), life,” the ADC maintained.
Bal Krishan, Chairman BDC Siot, said that his team of PRIs is always ready to support the forest department in all its affairs, be it prevention of forest fire, encroachment issues, plantation programmes or environmental protection .
Deep Sharma, Principal GHSS Prat extended his vote of thanks to all the guests as well as PRI Members and Students present during the Programme.
Further a Pledge taking ceremony and cleanliness drive was also conducted in the premises of Govt. PS Prat.
The officials of the Forest Department also cleaned and maintained Water bodies (Bowlis) along Channi Mela Road.
The programme was jointly organised by Rajinderdev Sharma, B.O Dharamsal, Ved Parkash BO Devak and Rangeel Singh B.O Sunderbani.
The whole event was conducted under the direct supervision of Vivek Verma Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri and Satyendra Maurya Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera.
