Suresh Gopi presents golden rosary to Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral in Kerala’s Thrissur
Thrissur (Kerala) [India], June 15 (ANI): Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi presented a golden rosary to the Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral in Kerala’s Thrissur on Saturday.
Gopi was welcomed by the Vicar of Lourdes Church, Father Davis Pulikottil, and the church committee members. After offering the golden rosary, Suresh Gopi prayed before Our Lady of Lourdes.
Before the election, Gopi had presented a gold crown to Our Lady of Lourdes at the Cathedral.
Father Davis Pulikottil, the Vicar of Lourdes Church, expressed happiness over Suresh Gopi’s visit to the cathedral, emphasising that everything happens according to God’s will.
Earlier, he said that his wife had offered gold to the tune of Rs 10 lakh if he won from Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency.
Gopi assumed charge as Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas as well as in the Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday morning.
The actor-turned-politician has become the first Lok Sabha MP from Kerala after winning the Thrissur constituency. He defeated the ruling Left Democratic Front candidate VS Sunilkumar by a margin of 74,686 votes.
Suresh Gopi’s Lok Sabha win during this election is significant for the BJP in Kerala, as the party has previously struggled to establish a strong presence in the state.
On June 4, the day when election results emerged indicating his win, he told ANI that he was ecstatic. ” I am in totally an ecstatic mood. What was very impossible became gloriously possible…it was not a 62-day campaign process, it was an emotional carriage for the past 7 years…I work for Kerala as a whole. My first pick will be to have AIIMS.”
