SVEEP: Mega Voter Awareness Drive held at Wetland Reserve Hygam to boost Poll Participation

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 27: In an effort to boost public participation in the Assembly elections in district Baramulla, the District Election Office Baramulla, on Friday, organized a Mega Voter Awareness programme under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) at the Wetland Reserve in Hygam Baramulla.
The event was presided over by the District Election Officer (DEO) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, along with Superintendent of Police Sopore, Divya Dev, and was attended by the Nodal Officer SVEEP, Shabir Ahmad, other officers, officials, a large gathering of first time voters, and local residents.


The program commenced with the formation of the human chain, which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of new voters who came together and joined hands, symbolizing unity and commitment towards a vibrant democratic process.


The DEO, accompanied by the SP Sopore, led an enthusiastic voter rally, attended by hundreds of first-time voters, students, and community leaders, all of whom marched through the streets of Hygam with energy, showcasing their commitment to exercising their democratic rights and encouraging others to do the same.
A vibrant array of cultural programs followed the rally at the Wetland Reserve Hygam, with students and new voters enthusiastically performing on election-centric themes, all aiming to promote enhanced electoral literacy.


During the event, the DEO along with other participants planted saplings at the wetland to promote greener elections. The participants also took a solemn pledge to actively participate in the elections by casting their votes on Election Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Minga Sherpa stressed the importance of such awareness programs in ensuring that every eligible voter understands their responsibility and the power of their vote.


Meanwhile, the DEO urged all participants, particularly the first-time voters, to come out and vote on October 1st, the day district Baramulla goes to the polls.
