Swachhata Hi Seva campaign held at Civil Secretariat Leh

Leh, October 01, 2024: As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 (SHS) campaign, a massive cleanliness drive was held at the Civil Secretariat, Leh. This was the culmination of the weeklong cleanliness activity undertaken by the officials serving in the Civil Secretariat, who undertook weeding out old records, obsolete items etc, to make their own workspaces clean.

To make the cleanliness drive within the area of the LAHDC campus and the campaign a vibrant one, Administrative Secretary, General Administration Department, Michael D’Souza, chaired a preparatory meeting with concerned officials and divided them into several teams, aimed at carrying out a successful drive of Swachhata Hi Seva.

Officers and officials from the various Departments of the Civil Secretariat cleaned the entire premises of Civil Secretariat, Hill Council Secretariat, and Culture Academy, Leh.

The drive witnessed full participation of the officers and officials of Civil Secretariat Leh. During the drive, the concerned officers and officials collected all sorts of non-biodegradable waste strewn all around like plastics, metals, etc.


The event was focused to raise awareness among the general public and the officials about the significance of cleanliness and responsibility everyone shares toward maintaining a clean environment.

It is pertinent to mention here Swachhata Hi Seva is an initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission, aims to generate greater public participation, reinforce the concept of “sanitation as everyone’s business”.


Principal Secretary, Sanjeev Khirwar and Administrative Secretary, Michael D’Souza joined in the cleanliness campaign.
