SWD Ramban hosts ‘a Day of Advocacy’ on Women Empowerment, Nasha Mukht Bharat, Menace of Child Labour

RAMBAN, JUNE 12: As part of ongoing series of awareness programmes on Women Empowerment and Child Labour marked as a Day of Advocacy, the Department of Social Welfare Ramban, organized a significant awareness programme here today at New Convent School focusing on the “Sankalp” initiative and the “Nasha Muqt Abhiyan” campaign.


The event aimed to inform the community about the crucial role of these initiatives in empowering women and fostering a drug-free society. District Social Welfare Officer Rahul Gupta, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, stressed the importance of these ongoing campaigns in addressing critical social issues and promoting growth and self-sufficiency among women. Gender Specialist Muzaima Banoo spearheaded the awareness drive, highlighting the need for community support to ensure the success of these initiatives.


In conjunction with this, the Child Helpline Ramban celebrated World Day Against Child Labour with the theme “Let’s Act on Our Commitments: End Child Labour” at Government High School Pernote.


The program, supervised by District Child Protection Officer Rahul Gupta, aimed to raise awareness about child labour, child rights, and child protection laws, including the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice Act.


Anjum Shafi and Shahnaz Wani from the Juvenile Justice Board briefed students on the child welfare initiatives and the mechanisms in place to safeguard their rights. Social workers and legal experts provided valuable insights into government schemes and resources available for child protection and welfare.
Certificates of participation were also presented to students to acknowledge the active involvement of attendees. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, recognizing the efforts of all participants and organizers in advancing child welfare and women’s empowerment.
