Symposium on “Corruption-Free Society” Marks Vigilance Awareness Week at GDCW, Kathua

Kathua, October 29: In observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, a symposium on the theme “Corruption-Free Society” took place today, October 29, 2024, at Government Degree College for Women (GDCW), Kathua. The event emphasized the importance of ethical practices, transparency, and integrity in society, aiming to foster a spirit of vigilance among citizens.

Under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Savi Behl, the symposium brought together five enthusiastic participants: Garima, Shivani, Gonika, Rashmi, Sakshi, and Pallavi, each presenting compelling arguments and insightful perspectives on achieving a corruption-free future.

The symposium opened with Garima, a first-semester student, who addressed the necessity of collective action and the role of individual accountability in curbing corruption. She highlighted how each person’s commitment to integrity can drive significant change. Following her, Shivani, also a first-semester student, emphasized the need for policy reforms and stricter enforcement mechanisms to combat corruption effectively. Her arguments underscored the vital role of government accountability in fostering a transparent environment. Gonika shared a powerful narrative on the role of education in shaping honest citizens, illustrating how informed and educated individuals can contribute to a more transparent society. Rashmi then discussed the economic benefits of a corruption-free society. Sakshi and Pallavi rounded off the symposium with a discussion on citizen engagement and technological advancements. 

All participants were praised by Dr. Gurpreet Kour for their well-researched arguments and eloquent presentations. The event concluded with a commitment from attendees to remain vigilant and proactive against corruption in all walks of life, reinforcing the week’s theme of “Promoting Integrity and Transparency.” 

The event was meticulously supervised by Dr. Tejinder Kour and Dr. Pratiyogita, ensuring a productive and inspiring atmosphere for all involved.
