The Importance of Skill Development: Aditi Sharma’s Approach to Career Coaching for Young People

As days roll into years, our professions shape us over the years becoming an integral part of our personalities. Whether you’re a fresher or a professional veteran, there comes a time
when you need guidance on whether you’re on the right track and if not, then what to do next.
That is where Aditi Sharma, a career coach and sales trainer enters.

Aditi truly understands the struggles and challenges that individuals face when trying to
navigate their career paths. Having racked up more than 12 years of experience working in
various fields and interacting with diverse individuals, she has developed a unique perspective
and approach to career coaching that sets her apart from others in the industry.

Aditi comes from an events background and began her journey in the industry through fashion
shows. However, she soon discovered her core interests lay in coordination, management, and
networking. This led her to pursue an event management course and gain experience in
organising various events such as social events, sports events (including ODI and T-20), movie
promotions, and corporate events.

With her strong marketing and sales skills, Aditi started exploring promotional events, which allowed her to creatively promote clients and attract more business opportunities.
Eventually, Aditi established her own company, specialising in events and marketing.

She believes that while pursuing one’s own purpose, everything falls into place. For her, that
purpose is to aid people and tackle their issues, regardless of her position. With 365 days in a
year, helping just one person per day would mean assisting 365 people annually. This thought
propels her forward even during her lowest moments.

Aditi also expanded her skills to public speaking and became a mentor to businesses,
guiding them in revenue generation and business planning. Over time, she has helped more than
2000 people through her guidance over the phone. Aditi’s experience also includes leading sales
teams for different organisations and training sales professionals to help them achieve their
goals. However, she quickly realized that her true calling was in mentoring and guiding
individuals to reach their full potential in their careers. Despite her success in the fashion and
event management industry, Aditi’s ultimate goal was to make a real impact and help those in
need.

As far as she can remember, Sharma has always wanted to help people. “There are 365
days in a year. Imagine helping one person a day. That’s 365 people you have helped in a year,”
she beams with pride. For her, empowering people to achieve their goals is one of the most
important things she can do. She firmly believes that it gives her a sense of accomplishment in
life and is the only real way of finding happiness and satisfaction.

For the past 5-6 years, Aditi has been working as a career coach, helping people in both
their personal and professional lives. In 2021, she launched a program called “Skill Up,” which
specifically focuses on job preparation. Aditi’s approach is unique in that she encourages
freshers to explore different fields and focuses on job interview preperations. “Correct guidance
by an expert career counselor will help students understand and choose their career options
based on their knowledge, skills, interest, and capability. Career guidance is critical because our
professional decisions are also intertwined with our personal lives,” Sharma says,
adding that happiness and a sense of accomplishment drive most people and guiding them in the
right direction is her passion.

“I remember one of my clients, John, came to me feeling lost and unsure about his career
path,” Aditi recalls. “He had been working in finance for a few years, but he couldn’t shake the
feeling that it wasn’t the right fit for him. Through our sessions together, we discovered his true
passion was in the tech industry. I was able to help him identify his transferable skills and guide
him through the job search process in that field. Today, he’s thriving in his new role and couldn’t
be happier.”

“In order to be successful in this field, it is pivotal to have interpersonal skills,” she says,
adding that many times people don’t know what they want and this puts them in distress. Being
an empathetic person helps her not only understand their predicament but also helps her invest in
the success of others more. “I can relate with how low a person can feel but I also know how
high they can go so the more I understand them, the more I am able to help.” For Aditi, her
interpersonal skills, introspection and self-analysis help her easily resonate with others.

She assists individuals in three main areas: those who lack clarity in their career path,
those who have been in the same field for a long time and are at a consistent level, and those who
are not satisfied with their current field. She helps them by conducting personal analysis,
providing guidance, identifying transferable skills, and offering consistent support, particularly to
those who wish to start a business but are constrained by family pressure.

Through introspection and self-analysis, she has gained a deep understanding of her own strengths and limitations, which allows her to effectively resonate with others and support them in reaching their potential.

When she works with a client, she prioritizes their skill development rather than
immediately focusing on selecting a specific career path. She believes that by learning and
acquiring new skills, their career opportunities will naturally unfold. She observes that many
young people have a lot of enthusiasm and potential, but that this can easily dissipate without a
clear direction. She suggests that by focusing on developing their skills, they will be able to
identify their strengths and interests, which will help them make informed decisions about their
career path.

The more people she meets, the more she is convinced that at the end of the day
spending time with ourselves and being honest about what we do, is the key to success. “Work
on yourself, introspect, and identify your strengths and weaknesses,” she guides in her calming
tone ready to share her wisdom for success with all who approach her.

Aditi also offers sales training firmly rooted in the ideology that the mindset of the sales
team member is important and should align with the mindset of the rest of the team and the
organization. According to her, maintaining relations with the client through effective listening is
essential in sales as the tone and the trust in the product will help to sell the product.
“Consistency is required not only to sell products but also to learn more about the client. As a
result, the sales will come eventually.” She believes that while selling a product, the mindset of a
sales person should be like that of helping the client instead of thinking that they are doing the
company a favor by purchasing the product. She also believes that consistency is the only mantra
to generate more business.

She also understands the importance of building a strong team in her work. “Building a
strong team requires two key elements: training and hiring. Every individual can be trained, but
it is important to ensure that their mindset aligns with the goals of the team.

If there is a mismatch in mindset, it can be difficult to effectively train the individual.” Aditi stresses the
importance of consistent training and adaptation to changes
