Jammu- 6-Oct 24, The recent attack on former Deputy Chief Minister, INC candidate from Chhamb, and Working President Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Shri Tara Chand, has sparked widespread concern across Jammu and Kashmir. The incident, which occurred on October 1st at his residence in Chak Malal, near Khour, has raised serious questions about the state of law and order in the region. People from all sections of society have expressed deep concerns about the growing insecurity faced by even the most prominent leaders. In response to this alarming situation, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee OBC Department, under the leadership of Chairman Madan Lal Chalotra, immediately convened an online meeting, bringing together representatives from all districts of J&K to discuss the incident and its serious implications.
During the meeting, there was unanimous condemnation of the attack, and participants demanded swift and decisive action from the authorities. The failure of the police to take timely action has been deemed appalling by many, especially as such incidents targeting Shri Tara Chand have been recurring. The laxity in providing adequate security to a senior leader of his stature has raised doubts about the safety of other public figures and the general population. Party members and concerned citizens believe that threats to life should not be taken lightly and are calling for an immediate upgrade to Shri Tara Chand’s security detail to prevent further attacks.
