Third-edition of Eliezer Joldan Memorial Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament 2023-24 organised by University of Ladakh in Leh

Leh, April 15, 2024: The third edition of Eliezer Joldan Memorial Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament 2023-24 was organised by Physical Education Department University of Ladakh in collaboration with Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh today at EJM College Leh on April 15.

The two-day volleyball tournament is being organised at EJM College Leh on April 15 and 16.

Nineteen teams, comprising of ten women’s teams and nine men’s teams from various Degree Colleges of Ladakh and higher educational institutions including EJM College, Leh, GDC Kargil, GDC Zanskar, GDC Nubra, GDC Khaltse, University of Ladakh and Central Institute of Buddhist Studies participated in the event.

Principal EJM College, Leh, Dr. Sameena Iqbal spoke about the importance of sporting events which inculcate the values of teamwork and self-discipline among students.

Additionally, Dean, Students Welfare, University of Ladakh, Dr. Jigmet Dachen, gave a detailed briefing on the event.

ADDC, Leh Sonam Nurboo, guest of honour congratulated EJM College for the initiative and encouraged all students and teams to participate in such sports activities.  

In his address, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S.K. Mehta, chief guest lauded the efforts of the organising team in bringing together college teams from various colleges and educational institutions of the region of Ladakh. He also spoke of the need for more such sporting events to be organised in colleges to help foster and cultivate the spirit of fairness, team building and perseverance.

A cultural programme was also presented by the students of EJM College Leh.

Daughter of Late Eliezer Joldan, Martha Phuntsog, granddaughter-in-law of Late Eliezer Joldan, Rachel Gyedon, Director Colleges, Professor Tashi Ldawa, Controller Examination, UoL, Professor Deskyong Namgyal, Dean, Academic Affairs, Uol, Dr. Sonam Joldan, Principal GDC Khaltsi, Professor Stanzin Yangdol, staffs and students of EJM college present on the occasion.
