Three-Day Workshop Inaugurated at Central University Jammu

Jammu, 27 Nov 2024: The Department of Educational Studies, in collaboration with the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), Central University of Jammu, successfully inaugurated its Three-Day Workshop on Integrating Recent Pedagogical Skills in Teaching-Learning at the Higher Education Level. The event commenced with the presence of Resource Person Prof. Anil Kumar from NITTTR, Bhopal, Director DIQA, Prof. Vinay Kumar, DSW Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Head Department of Educational Studies, Prof. Asit Mantry, Prof. J.N. Baliya and faculty members from various departments as participants.

The session began with a warm welcome note and a brief introduction to the workshop by Prof. Asit Mantry, Convenor of the Workshop. He highlighted the workshop’s objective of equipping educators with advanced pedagogical skills and fostering academic excellence. He further conveyed his regards to Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor, CUJ, for his advice to conduct this workshop for the professional development of faculties.

Prof. Vinay, in his inaugural address extended a formal welcome to the resource person and participants. He further emphasized the significance of the workshop in enriching the teaching-learning skills of the faculties at the university. Prof. Vinay said that such kind of professional development activities for the faculties have been planned by the DIQA to enhance the quality of academics at the University. Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean of Student Welfare, introduced the resource person and appealed to the participants for their active participation in the workshop.

During the first session, Prof. Anil Kumar delivered an engaging talk on Assessment and Evaluation: Marking Schemes and Shifting from Marks to Grades. He underscored the importance of aligning evaluation methods with learning outcomes and highlighted strategies for implementing a grading system effectively. His session was well-received by participants, who actively engaged in discussions on enhancing the quality of education through effective assessment.

The inaugural session witnessed the presence of Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Prof. J.N. Baliya, Prof. Vandana Sharma, Prof. Bharat Bhushan, Prof. Niranjana Bhandari and Deans, Head of the Departments and faculty members of CUJ. The inaugural session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Ritu Bakshi. The participants were assured that the workshop promises to offer more such enriching sessions over the next two days, focusing on innovative teaching methods and their practical applications in higher education.
