Three-Day Workshop on Recent Pedagogical Skills Concludes at Central University of Jammu

Jammu, 30 Nov 2024: The Department of Educational Studies, in collaboration with the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA) and UGC Malaviya Mission Teachers’ Training Centre (MMTTC), Central University of Jammu (CUJ), successfully concluded a Three-Day Workshop on Integrating Recent Pedagogical Skills in Teaching-Learning at the Higher Education Level.

The inaugural session was held on November 27, 2024, with Prof. Anil Kumar, Director, NITTTR Bhopal, as the Resource Person. The event was graced by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CU, Jammu, Prof. Sanjeev Jain; Prof. Suram Singh, Dean of Academics; Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar; Neelika Arora, Director, UGC MMTTC; and Prof. Vinay Kumar, Director of DIQA. Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean of Student Welfare, and Prof. Asit Mantry, Head of the Department of Educational Studies, were also present.

The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Asit Mantry, who outlined the workshop’s objective of fostering advanced pedagogical skills and academic excellence.

Prof. Vinay Kumar, in his address, emphasized the importance of professional development programs in enhancing teaching-learning practices at CUJ. Neelika Arora highlighted the collaborative efforts of UGC MMTTC and DIQA in organizing the workshop. Prof. Ritu Bakshi introduced the resource person, and Prof. Anil Kumar delivered an insightful talk on Assessment and Evaluation: Shifting from Marks to Grades, focusing on aligning evaluation practices with learning outcomes.

The second day included interactive sessions led by Prof. Anil Kumar on Curriculum Framing and Outcome-Based Education. Faculty participants engaged in group activities to develop Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs), and Course Outcomes (COs), fostering a practical understanding of curriculum mapping.

The third day began with a session on Assessment Tools and Strategies, where Prof. Anil Kumar explained the use of rubrics and other effective evaluation techniques. The participants appreciated the hands-on approach, which provided valuable insights into enhancing teaching and assessment practices.

The valedictory session marked the conclusion of the workshop. Prof. Asit Mantry presented the workshop report and collected feedback from participants. Prof. Vinay Kumar shared his reflections on the event, and Prof. Ritu Bakshi delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the participants, resource person, and organizing team.

The workshop concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph and refreshments. Faculty participants praised the event for its engaging sessions and practical relevance, describing it as a significant step toward academic and professional excellence.
