Three people injured in Model Town building collapse admitted to hospital: Assistant Regional Fire Officer
New Delhi [India], August 10 (ANI): Three people injured in the building collapse at Mahendru Enclave in Delhi’s Model Town have been admitted to hospital, said Assistant Regional Fire Officer CL Meena on Saturday.
CL Meena said, “We received a call for a collapse of a building. Three vehicles were sent by the Delhi Fire Service. This was in a huge area. It was a banquet hall building. The building was very old and it also had a telephone tower on its roof. The tower is tilted on one side. Three injured have been hospitalised.”
He further said that it was an old, dilapidated building that was shut down.
“The search operation is going on to see if anyone is trapped. The operation will continue after securing the tower. The reason is not yet known but it was an old closed building in a damaged condition. Delhi police, NDRF and Delhi fire service is present at site,” he added.
According to Delhi Fire Services, some people are feared to be trapped in the building.
Eyewitness and neighbour Paras said, “This was an old banquet hall that has collapsed. It fell around 3 o’clock.”
Paras ran away from the spot after seeing the incident. His child also suffered scratches. Some repair work was going on in the rear part of the building, and news came that some people were buried after the collapse.
The NDRF team also arrived at the spot. Further details are awaited.
