Tourism Department, Doda Administration, JKAACL to host tourism promotion mela at Lal Draman
“37 offbeat destinations identified in Jammu”: Director Tourism
JAMMU, August 03: Directorate of Tourism Jammu, District Administration Doda and Jammu Kashmir Academy of Art Culture & Languages are set to host a two-day tourism promotion mela at Lal Draman in Doda district on August 5th and 6th.
Lal Draman is a scenic meadow located 15 km from Doda town. It is surrounded by mountains and landscapes, making it a popular destination for tourists. The meadow is also home to a rich cultural heritage, with traditional customs and practices still prevalent among the local community.
Director Tourism Jammu, Vivekanand Rai, informed that efforts are being made to promote offbeat destinations in the region. He said that out of the 75 newly identified off-beat destinations, 37 are in Jammu Province.
He informed that the “Bijerni Lal Draman Road” will be inaugurated during the event and a tentage facility will be available for visitors till October 31st on a payment basis.
Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Sunaina Sharma Mehta, informed that arrangements have been made to organize the Lal Draman Mela in a grand manner. Various activities will be conducted during the event, including trekking, zorbing, marathon, local cuisines, horse riding, Kabaddi championships, cultural performances and displaying art & craft stalls showcasing agro-based and rural Tourism.
She highlighted the role of homestays in providing an opportunity for tourists to stay with local families and experience their way of life.
Deputy Director Tourism Jammu, Abdul Jabbar urged the public to participate in large numbers and make this event a success.
