Traffic slow on Jammu-Srinagar Highway due to road conditions, nomadic movement; caution advised
Travelers on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) are experiencing significant delays, particularly between Ramban and Banihal, due to a combination of poor road surface conditions, sharp 90-degree curves near Tunnel 5 (T5), and the movement of nomadic flocks. The traffic flow in this section has been notably slow, causing inconvenience to travelers.
The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police have urged drivers to maintain lane discipline to avoid exacerbating the congestion. They have emphasized that overtaking in these areas could lead to further traffic jams and potential accidents, considering the challenging road conditions and sharp turns.

In addition to the situation on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW, other key routes including the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road, the Mughal Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba road, and NH-244 remain open for vehicular movement. These routes are expected to provide some relief to the traffic load, offering alternative pathways for travelers.
