Traffic snarls on Jammu-Srinagar highway due to poor road conditions; lane discipline urged
Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) is experiencing significant delays today.
According to a traffic advisory issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police, vehicular movement is very slow near Dalwas in Ramban due to a combination of single-lane stretches and poor road surface conditions.

The advisory urges commuters to exercise lane discipline and avoid overtaking, as these actions can further exacerbate congestion.
The situation is compounded by yesterday’s backlog of heavy vehicles traveling downhill (towards Jammu) that remain uncleared due to ongoing road issues at various points along the highway.
Authorities urged motorists to adhere strictly to lane discipline, emphasizing that overtaking could exacerbate the already precarious traffic situation, potentially resulting in further congestion.
