Training conducted for Polling Teams of 85+, PWDs and Essential Service Voters
Leh, May 8, 2024: The Returning Officer, 1-Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency, Santosh Sukhadeve and Assistant Returning Officer, Postal Ballot, Sonam Nurboo conducted a training for the polling teams of Polling Voting Centre (PVC) and Absentee Voting Facility at home, at DC Conference Hall today on May 8.
The training was conducted for the polling teams that will be responsible for the absentee voters belonging to essential services and the absentee voters which belong to the category of 85+ and PWDs with 40% and more disability.
Returning Officer, Santosh Sukhadeve asked the SDMs of the Sub Division to ensure that the entire process is completed before time and in purview of all the guidelines that were shared in the training.
ARO, Postal Ballot, Sonam Nurboo explained the steps for filling each of the forms and showed the members of the polling team the different forms and envelope of the postal ballot. He also talked about the different responsibilities of the members of the polling team.
Additionally, he informed that 11 zones have been made for conducting postal voting for absentee voters which includes Absentee Voters Senior Citizen (AVSC) and Absentee Voters Person with Disabilities (AVPD) which will commence on May 11 and end on May 17. Along with this, 5 Postal Voting Centres (PVCs) have been set up in Durbuk, Nyoma, Khaltse, Nubra, and Leh for conducting vote of Absentee Voters Essential Services (AVES), from May 13 to May 15.
District Level Master Trainer, Senior Lecturer, Rigzin Namgyail gave a detailed presentation on how to fill the forms for absentee voters, process of conducting the voting and ensuring that the ballot paper is sealed and dispatched properly. He also talked about setting up polling voting centres and the guidelines to follow. The presentation ended with the dos and don’ts to follow while being on the polling duty.
