Training Session In Counselling For Teachers Of KC Public School

JAMMU, 2 Sept.:An intensive session in counselling for 30 teachers of KC Public School was conducted by Ms. Salony Priya, Director of Umeed Counselling and Consulting Services, Kolkata on August 30 and 31. In this session, KCPS teachers were given in-depth insight into strength based counselling, goals of positive psychology, components of active listening, stages of counselling, spectrum of emotions, adolescent behaviour concerns and symptoms of anxiety and aggression in children.

A wide range of activities was undertaken during the session to keep the teachers engaged and to inculcate in them knowledge and understanding
of child psychology. Most of the activities were conducted in groups. Role plays were practised in order to understand how a counsellor should build
a rapport with the client.

In addition, various relaxation techniques were discussed and body scan meditation was demonstrated. The entire training session focused on building rapport with clients and on the significance of active listening and strength-based counselling.

The training is expected to go a long way in enhancing the ability of KCPS teachers to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment in the school and to address the complex emotional needs of students.

School Principal AK Mishra stated that the purpose of empowering teachers with emotional intelligence and counselling skills is to foster a positive and nurturing school community.
