Tripura police arrest 11 Bangledeshi nationals

Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 2 (ANI): In a significant operation based on confidential information, authorities apprehended 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including six women with their children, at Agartala Railway Station on June 30, 2024.

“They were attempting unauthorized entry into India from Bangladesh, intending to travel to Bengaluru and Kashmir by train,” said Tapas Das, OC, GRP, Agartala.

The case has been filed at the Agartala GRP Police Station and will be presented before the magistrate on Wednesday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Alamin (19) from Rangamati, Bangladesh
  • Rajib Gharami (24) from Firozpur, Bangladesh

  • Musa (30) from Chattagram, Bangladesh
  • MD Younos (40) from Bargona, Bangladesh

  • Salma Begam (30) from Bagerhat, Bangladesh, with two children
  • Mukta Akhtar (19) from Khulna, Bangladesh, with two children
  • Lamiya Aktar (19) from Bagerhat, Bangladesh

  • Sahanaz Akhtar (24) from Chattagram, Bangladesh, with one child
  • Lakhi Akhtar (19) from Rangamati, Bangladesh

  • Manira Akhtar Nipa (24) from Firozpur, Bangladesh, with one child

  • Roni Shikdar (22) from Bagerhat, Bangladesh This incident underscores the ongoing challenges in border security and immigration enforcement between India and Bangladesh. On June 29, authorities apprehended eleven Bangladeshi nationals (five females and six males) at Agartala Railway Station following an operation. They were caught attempting to enter India illegally, reportedly with intentions to travel to various cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, and Odisha via train.
