Two-day training on newborn care concludes in Doda
DODA, March 30: The District Health Society Doda organised a two-day district level training of Navjaat Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK) for Medical Officers and Staff Nurses at District Training Centre Khellani in Doda District which concluded today. The training session was inaugurated by CMO Doda, Dr Ab Hamid Zargar.
The objective of the training was to train health professionals in basic newborn care and resuscitation at every delivery point and equip them with the knowledge and skills required to handle neonatal cases efficiently. Guest Speaker and Trainer, Dr Mohammad Rafiq Lone (MO-Pediatrics) imparted basic education about the NSSK programme.
Dr Lone cited that two-thirds of infant mortality is due to neonatal mortality and saving the life of a neonate a minute after birth is critical. He mentioned that sepsis, premature births and hypothermia are some major causes of infant mortality.
CMO Doda, Dr AH Zargar addressed the participants and briefed them about the purpose of the training session. He encouraged them to take advantage of it and said that it would help fill gaps, refresh knowledge and address major causes of neonatal mortality.
The training was managed and coordinated by DPM NHM, Jahangir Mehta with Rishi Kumar Pandita, Ashima Kotwal (DAM) and CK Shan (DMEO) also present. Around 30-35 participants including Medical Officers and Staff Nurses from each Medical Block attended the training programme.
