Two peddlers arrested with cache of Alprazolam tablets in Reasi
Reasi Police in its ongoing drive against drug abuse under operation Jeevandhan apprehended two persons and recovered 450 Alprazolam tablets from their possession.
The accused, Bittu Ram and Mulkh Raj were riding a motorcycle when they were stopped at a surprise naka checking by the police team from Katra Police Station. During a search, 25 strips of Alprazolam tablets were found on Bittu Ram and 20 strips on Mulkh Raj.
An FIR No. 84/2024 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and an investigation is underway to unearth the drug network.
SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma said that the Reasi Police is working on a multi-pronged strategy to tackle the drug menace. Awareness programs are being conducted across the district alongside regular arrests of drug peddlers under the NDPS Act. An Anti-Drug Helpline Number (9070907017) has also been launched for the public, where caller identities will be kept confidential.
SSP Sharma warned drug peddlers that they have no place in Reasi and should mend their ways to avoid strict action.
