Udhampur Admin organises awareness program on drug De-addiction at Sial Sallan
UDHAMPUR, APRIL 25: District Administration Udhampur in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department today organized an awareness program under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan here at Sial Sallan.

The program was held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event witnessed the participation of District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Anil Saloch, Assistant Drug Controller Sanjeev Gupta.
The awareness program featured a series of impactful activities, including sensitization sessions on the ill-effects of drug abuse conducted by resource persons, counsellor from the District Police Line.
Addressing the gathering, the DC emphasized the urgent need to curb the drug menace, stating, India has the largest youth population in the world. “If our youth fall prey to drug addiction, it will hamper the progress of our nation. It is our collective responsibility to prevent this” she noted. She further added that rehabilitated individuals can play a vital role as ambassadors of change by motivating others to stay away from drugs. The DC advocated for a disrupt and distract policy — disrupting regular drug-using patterns and engaging youth in constructive and positive activities to keep them away from harmful substances.
Rehabilitated individuals who had successfully overcome drug addiction shared their inspirational journeys, offering hope and serving as role models for others struggling with substance abuse.
A special highlight of the event was a soulful guitar performance that conveyed the strong message of choosing life over drugs. Participants also took a pledge to support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and remain committed to a drug-free society.
To further spread the message, bags promoting the slogan “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” were distributed among the participants.
