UDID will be mandatory for availing benefits of govt schemes from 01.04.2023
Leh, March 15: Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) has announced that the UDID number/UDID card shall be mandatory for availing benefits/relaxation under the schemes of DEPwD and its associated organizations viz. National Trust, RCI, NHFDC, ALIMCO, All National Institutes and Composite Regional Centres, etc with effect from 01.04.2023. In case, UDID card is not available, UDID enrolment number (Generated from UDID portal only) along with the certificate of disability shall be mandatory. A physical copy of the disability certificate will not be required, in case of availability of a valid UDID number or UDID card.
This was shared by Commissioner/Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare Department, Padma Angmo. She said, in view of the notice from the DEPwD, all Departments, Institutes/Organizations/Statutory Bodies/Public Sector Undertakings shall be required to ensure strict compliance with the mandatory requirement of UDID number/UDID enrolment number along with a copy of disability for extending benefits/relaxation on schemes with effect from 01.04.2023.
Commissioner/Secretary said all Persons with Disabilities in Ladakh who have not availed the UDID card in the recent campaign and drives undertaken by the Districts, may immediately apply for UDID Card on the portal www.swavlambancard.gov.in.
Under the UDID project, Unique Disability Identity (UDID) cards are issued to PwDs based on the evaluation and assessment of the type and percentage of disability.
