UIET, Kathua Campus (JAMMU UNIVERSITY ) celebrates Engineer’s Day  (Role of Engineers in making Bharat a Vishwaguru was highlighted)

Kathua, September 15: University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with Students for Holistic Development of Humanity (SHoDH) celebrated National Engineer’s Day and paying tribute to Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a prolific civic engineer, educationist, economist, scholar of the 20th century, who made significant contributions in the field of engineering. On this occasion, engineering students of the campus proposed various innovative ideas for the sustainable development. Moreover, a motivational seminar was organized on the theme “Engineers for Vishwaguru Bharat”. Dr. Shashank D. Kulkarni from Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, Central University of Jammu was the resource person. 

Dr. Kulkarni highlighted the role of Indian engineers for significantly contributing to the vision of making India a “Vishwaguru” or a global leader by leveraging their expertise, innovation, and problem-solving skills across various domains. He also said the engineers play a crucial role in leading a country’s development and progress in various ways. Further, he added that the contributions of engineers are instrumental in shaping infrastructure, technology, and innovation, which are all essential for economic growth, social well-being, and national security.

Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu opined that the engineers are leaders in driving a country’s development, competitiveness, and sustainability. She added that by aligning efforts with India’s vision of being a global leader, engineers can contribute substantially to making India a “Vishwaguru”. She underscored that the vision encompasses not only economic leadership but also cultural, environmental, and societal aspects, and engineers can be instrumental in achieving these objectives through their skills, dedication, and commitment to progress.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/c Coordinator, UIET underscored the engineer’s role in addressing global challenges for a sustainable future and highlighted how technology has to play the role of a catalyst for increasing engineering efficiency, in order to meet the demands of tomorrow.

Mr. Kuljeet Singh, State Convener, SHoDH, J&K spoke on the life and achievements of Sir M Visvesvaraya. 

Er. Arooshi Gupta coordinated the whole programme and Er. Himani Khajuria delivered vote of thanks. The faculty members and students of the Campus were also present during the programme.
