A Sustainable Step Towards a Greener Future
Kathua, September 18: In a significant stride towards sustainability, the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu celebrated World Bamboo Day. The highlight of the programme was the planting of several bamboo plants in the campus grounds, symbolizing the commitment of UIET to environmental conservation. These bamboo plants will not only enhance the beauty of the campus but also serve as a living testament to UIET’s dedication to sustainability.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu in her message expressed her delight at the successful execution of the Bamboo Day programme at campus. She said bamboo is a remarkable resource that offers numerous benefits to both the environment and society. She added that the UIET is proud to take this step towards a greener and more sustainable future and we look forward to nurturing these bamboo plants as they grow alongside our students.
Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/c Coordinator, UIET said that the bamboo embodies sustainability in its truest form. Further he said, Bamboo Day served as a platform to promote environmental awareness and emphasize the importance of bamboo in our ecosystem.
The enthusiastic participation of faculty members and students showcased the collective commitment of the UIET community to promote eco-friendly practices.
