Under present dispensation, tourism sector is getting ignored in Jammu region: Rattan Lal Gupta

Victory of NC in upcoming polls is only solution to all problems  

UDHAMPUR August 7: J&K National Conference today launched a scathing attack against the present dispensation for its hollow claims with regard to the unprecedented development witnessed in the tourism sector.

Addressing a meeting of party functionaries of District Udhampur Rural, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC Jammu said tourism is an essential pillar of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, contributing significantly to its growth and employment opportunities. He said that the government’s assertions regarding its efforts to boost tourism industry have failed to materialize in any tangible outcomes. Despite extravagant promises, the ground reality presents a stark contrast to the claims made by the authorities.

The Provincial President questioned the LG led Administration that how much tourists who visited the Jammu region, excluding the famous Mata Vaishno Devi and Baba Amarnath Shrine, in the past year. He questioned the government’s efforts in enhancing tourism in the area by stating that the current administration has failed to create infrastructure for the development of tourism in the region.

The LG administration is also failed to create a religious circuit in Jammu despite the presence of several religious places across the region. Despite the high number of visitors to revered sites such as Shree Mata Vaishno Devi, Shadra Sharief, Sarthal Devi Mata, Machail Mata, Sukrala Mata, Shiv Khori, Kol Kandoli Temple, Purmandal, Utterbehni, Krimchi Temple, and many others, the government has not capitalized on the potential of these religious circuits to boost tourism in the Jammu region, he said.

Rattan Lal Gupta said that several tourist places like Patnitop, Mansar, Surinsar, Peer Ki Gali, Noori Chhamb, the seven lakes at Poonch Rajouri, Bhadarwah, Kishtwar, Suchetgarh, and others, which have the capacity to boost tourism in Jammu region. He asked the LG Administration to clarify the infrastructure developments made in these tourist attractions.

He firmly believed that the creation of a religious circuit and the implementation of necessary infrastructure could significantly enhance tourism in Jammu. By developing and promoting various tourist destinations across the region, creating a religious circuit, and investing in necessary infrastructure, the potential for tourism growth and economic opportunities can be realized, he added.

The Provincial President emphasized the victory of National Conference in the upcoming ULB and Panchayat polls as the solution to every problem. 

The meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Ram Parshotam Sharma, District President Udhampur Rural who also briefed the senior functionaries about the hardships being faced by the people of Ramnagar, Cheanni and other rural far flung areas of District  Udhampur.  The party functionaries also  discussed threadbare regarding the upcoming elections of Cheanni and Ramnagar municipalities.  

Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary JKNC, raised concerns about the declining economy of Jammu due to anti-people measures by the government, particularly in ending the shifting of the annual Darbar Move. More than 50,000 government employees who moved to Jammu every year with the Civil Secretariat have significantly contributed to the local economy during their six-month stay. 

Pardeep Bali and Vijay Lochan, senior NC leaders appealed to the people  to strength the hands of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah in the upcoming elections. They called upon the public to rally behind these accomplished politicians for a brighter future.

Meanwhile, Mir Qasim Wani, Retd. Sub Inspector of J&K Police of Basantgarh, Shah Ali of Chenani and Aryan Jamwal, of Udhampur along with their supporters joined the Party under the leadership of District President Ram Parshotam Sharma and in presence of senior functionaries of the party.
