Union Minister Chirag Paswan urges youth to take “resolution” to ensure women’s safety

Patna (Bihar) [India], August 19 (ANI): On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Monday urged the youth to take the resolution to ensure the safety of every woman in the country so that heinous crimes against them do not take place.

Paswan also condemned the regressive mentality that leads to crime against women like the 2012 Delhi gangrape case and more recently in West Bengal where on August 9, a postgraduate trainee doctor was allegedly raped and murdered at the R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

Chirag was seen enjoying the festival of Raksha Bandhan along with her sisters in Bihar.

“On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, every youth should resolve to ensure the safety of every woman in the country…There is a need to change the mentality due to which heinous crimes like the Nirbhaya incident are taking place in the country…Everyone should resolve so that these kinds of incidents never take place in the country,” said Paswan while speaking to ANI.

When asked about the statement of West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose claiming that democracy was degenerating in West Bengal.

Chirag said, “It is worrying if the Governor is making these kinds of statements for a state whose Chief Minister is a woman…There is no place for these kinds of incidents in the country. Proper action should be taken and strict punishment should be given to those responsible so that these kinds of incidents don’t happen again…”

“Along with this, it’s a social responsibility as well. This time Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made the same statement from Red Fort as well that everyone needs to take collective responsibility. We as lawmakers need to take this responsibility, administrative people responsible for the implementation of law and order at the ground level also need to take responsibility and every citizen of society as well,” added the Union Minister.

On Sunday as well Paswan slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for taking out the protest against her government and said that it shows the TMC government’s weakness in West Bengal.
