Urban Forestry Division, Srinagar organizes Plantation, Cleanliness Drive at Zabarwan Hills
SRINAGAR, APRIL 26: Urban Forestry Division, Srinagar, today organized a plantation and cleanliness drive at the Zabarwan Hills under the banner of the national campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.’

The event, held in collaboration with Woodlands House School, Sonwar witnessed active participation from 200 students, along with staff members from Woodlands House School, with support from Urban Forestry Division staff, in the plantation and cleanliness activities
On the occasion, a cleanliness drive focusing on the removal of polythene and plastic waste was undertaken across key locations in the Zabarwan Hills. The students also collected around 50–60 kilograms of polythene and plastic waste, which was later responsibly disposed-off at designated sites identified by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
Besides, 250 (approx) conifer saplings were planted during the event.
An awareness session was conducted on the importance of forests, biodiversity conservation, and combating climate change, helping students understand the critical role they can play in environmental protection.
Commending the efforts, Tawheed Ahmad Deva, Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle, lauded the Urban Forestry Division for organizing the plantation-cum-awareness programme in collaboration with Woodlands House School.
He urged all Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs) within the Srinagar Circle to replicate such initiatives in their respective areas to foster a greener, healthier and more sustainable environment.
