UT Foundation Day/Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: District Bandipora Abuzz with Series of activities

BANDIPORA, October 28: Continuing ongoing celebrations of UT Foundation Day, District Bandipora Saturday witnessed a range of activities including Gram Sabhas, cleanliness drives, plantation drives, debates, cultural programs besides painting competitions.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad inaugurated a massive plantation drive at Bandipora within the premises of Mini Secretariat Bandipora.

Massive plantation drives were also conducted across all panchayats within. Saplings of various indigenous tree species were planted, contributing to the preservation of local ecosystems, while simultaneously enhancing the natural beauty of the region.

As part of UT Foundation Day Celebrations, Nodal Officer Coordination Mohammad Ashraf Hakak in presence of ADC Bandipora Umar Shafi flagged off ‘run for unity’ rally from the premises of Mini Secretariat Bandipora to Konan Bandipora. The run compromised of more than 150 school children, displaying solidarity and unity towards Nation.

On the occasion, special Gram Sabhas were held in all the blocks of district Bandipora which served as a platform for locals to come together, discuss important issues, and chart a collective vision for their panchayats.

Cleanliness drives took place in all panchayats of the district. Dedicated volunteers, in collaboration with local authorities, rolled up their sleeves to clean streets, public spaces, and water bodies.

The painting competitions were also conducted on the occasion, wherein students from different schools/colleges participated. The painting competition added an artistic dimension to the celebration, further emphasizing the holistic development and expression of talent within the district.

The participation of residents, government officials, and volunteers expressed the spirit of unity and collaboration that defines the Union Territory.

Unity Pleges ceremonies were also held during all the vibrant activities.

During the events, DDC, BDCs, PRIs, Block Development Officers, of the concerned constituencies and blocs also participated.
