Uttar Pradesh police file FIR against Congress state chief Ajay Rai, 100 others for protests near Raj Bhawan
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 24 (ANI): The Hazratgant Police has registered an FIR against Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Ajay Rai and former state president Ajay Kumar Lallu among 100 other unknown people for creating disruptions near Raj Bhawan in Lucknow.
Congress had on August 22, led by Rai staged a protest outside Raj Bhawan in Lucknow for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Hindenburg Report on Adani group and Madhabi Puri Buch.
The complaint against Rai was filed by Hazratganj sub-inspector, Rahul Singh.
Others who have been named in the FIR include Tanuj Poonia, Congress MP from Barabanki, Dheeraj Gurjar, the party’s national general secretary, Shiv Pandey the party’s treasurer, and Akhilesh Pratap Singh a former MLA/spokesperson.
A similar FIR was also filed in Gautam Palli police station against the Congress leaders.
Sub Inspector Singh, in his complaint, said that on August 22, at around 3 pm, information was received that a crowd of 100 people was moving from Raj Bhavan Gate No-1 towards Gate No-2.
He also mentioned that when he tried to stop the crowd, they pushed him, obstructing the police work.
“Along with the police force already present at Gate No-2, I tried to stop the crowd, but the crowd pushed the police force, obstructing official work, and unlawfully some people started shouting slogans and sat down in front of Raj Bhavan Gates. These people said that they knew all the laws but would do whatever they wanted right there. Saying this, they started getting aggressive and began protesting,” the police official said.
“This caused significant inconvenience to school children, women, traders, and people coming and going to government institutions, completely disrupting traffic and security arrangements at Raj Bhavan Gates, creating an atmosphere of fear and disturbing public order,” the police sub-inspector said.
