Uttarakhand CM Dhami reviews preparations for implementing Uniform Civil Code
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 22 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday held a meeting in the secretariat regarding the preparations for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state.
The Chief Minister said that to implement UCC in the state, the procedures and rules governing it should be finalised on time.
The Chief Minister directed the systematic execution of works of the sub-committee constituted to execute the provisions of the UCC. He also said that the action to be taken at the level of various departments should also be finalized soon.
CM Dhami directed the completion of the training programs to be held at various levels in this regard soon.
The Chief Minister said that before the proper implementation of the UCC, all aspects should be studied in depth and alert mode.
The Chief Minister said that public awareness about UCC should also be brought on a wide level. For this, all the concerned departments should work in coordination.
Shatrughan Singh, Chairman of the Committee constituted to implement the provisions of UCC, informed that three sub-committees were formed in this regard. So far 43 meetings of the sub-committee constituted to prepare the outline of the rules have been held, which will submit its report by 31 August 2024. 2

The sub-committee constituted for capacity development and training will also submit its report by 30 September 2024. It was told in the meeting that various departments have been assigned responsibility to effectively implement the provisions related to UCC.
Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Principal Secretary Justice Pradeep Pant, DGP Abhinav Kumar, Secretaries of various departments, members of the committee and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
