VAF under SVEEP held at GMC Handwara
KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 10: In a significant collaborative effort to boost voter awareness for the upcoming Assembly Elections-2024, the Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara today organized a Voter Awareness Forum (VAF) in collaboration with Sub divisional Administration Handwara.
The programme aimed at spreading electoral literacy amongst the voters under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
The event was held on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara Ayushi Sudhan under the supervision of Returning Officer (RO) AC-05, Aziz Ahmad Rather to generate awareness regarding value of exercising franchise and ensure larger voter turnout in the ensuing General Assembly Elections 2024 in the AC 5-Handwara.
The programme witnessed a large gathering of the Medical Officers, Students of Medical College, Medical and Paramedical Staff and other locals of the area. During the programme, a series of events were held.
Principal GMC Handwara, Dr. Khurshid Ahmed Wani in his presidential address said that the aim of the programme is to spread awareness among the masses about the importance of exercising their constitutional right to vote. He also informed participants to raise further awareness regarding their right to vote as guaranteed under Indian constitution.
Besides others, Medical Superintendent GMC Handwara, Zonal Education officer Handwara/ Nodal Officer SVEEP and other officers were also present.
