Veer Bal Diwas observed at Bandipora
BANDIPORA, DECEMBER 26: As Part of the commemoration of Veer Bal Diwas, an event was held in Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Bandipora. The event was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak and was attended by CEO Bandipora and other officials of Social Welfare Department, DHEW, OSC and a galaxy of children besides other participants.
Veer Bal Diwas is observed on 26th December every year to commemorate the martyrdom of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh the tenth and last Sikh Guru.
Speakers emphasized the importance of upholding righteousness and standing firm against injustice, values exemplified by the young martyrs.
The speakers including children on the occasion said that Veer Bal Diwas is annually observed on December 26. It was given out that this day honours and pays tribute to young martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the country; they were the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh.
Veer Bal Diwas served as a reminder of the sacrifices made for religious freedom and the importance of standing up for one’s beliefs. The day fostered a sense of community spirit and unity among the people of Bandipora, transcending religious differences.
In addition to main event at Mini Secretariat Bandipora, Educational institutions in Bandipora held special assemblies to commemorate Veer Bal Diwas. Students recited poems, presented skits, and sang songs depicting the lives and sacrifices of the Guru’s sons. Teachers spoke about the historical context and significance of the day, inspiring students to imbibe the virtues of courage, loyalty, and faith.
Later, a felicitation ceremony was held wherein students/children were felicitated with momentos and certificates for their exceptional performance in different competitions held throughout the week in commemoration of Veer Bal Diwas 2023.
